Excellence in education: every child the chance to fulfil their potential
Labour has delivered over 40,000 more teachers and 116,000 more teaching assistants. Over 3,000 schools have been built or refurbished and 470,000 more young people now gain five or more good GCSEs.
We will:
- Raise standards, promote excellence and narrow achievement gaps by giving the best school leaders and federations more schools to run.
- Pupils who fall behind will get one-to-one and small-group tuition, and every young person will be guaranteed education or training until 18.
- Increase spending on frontline Sure Start, schools and 16-19 learning, offering free nursery places for two year olds and 15 hours a week of flexible, free nursery education for three and four year olds.
